We teach girls to shrink themselves
To make themselves smaller
We say to girls
"You can have ambition
But not too much
You should aim to be successful
But not too successful
Otherwise you will threaten the man"
Because I am female
I am expected to aspire to marriage
I am expected to make my life choices
Always keeping in mind that
Marriage is the most important
Now marriage can be a source of
Joy and love and mutual support
But why do we teach girls to aspire to marriage
And we don't teach boys the same?
We raise girls to each other as competitors
Not for jobs or for accomplishments
Which I think can be a good thing
But for the attention of men
We teach girls that they cannot be sexual beings
In the way that boys are
Feminist: the person who believes in the social
Political, and economic equality of the sexes

I also truly believe in Chimamanda’s Ngozi Adichie words from her speech on feminism (TED) repeated in Beyonce’s Flawless song.

Sunset can be nice in every time of the year and in every place of the world. It’s not a discovery, I know.

Yet it makes the moment you look at somehow magical, doesn't it?

Jednak za każdym razem - uchwycony, potrafi zachwycać, prawda?

I almost hear the music while looking at those pictures and you?

And if you're curious what were those girls with their cellphones hearing- it was a nice peace of Spanish rock music. for real! And no - don’t ask me why the hell they are sitting on their…dresses if the party is right behind the corner (I wrote about it also here).

Prawie słyszę muzykę jak oglądam te zdjęcia.

A jak się zastanawiacie, co słyszały dziewczęta na kolejnych zdjęciach, tak - te przyrośnięte do telefonów. Nieopodal, za rogiem stała niemała scena z hiszpańskim rockiem, znakomita impreza, mnóstwo ludzi… Nie - nie pytajcie mnie dlaczego siedzą na swoich….sukienkach, wgapione w ekrany (pisałam już o tym tutaj).
